Strands has been invited to present a research challenge at SynergyS22@Barcelona of the International Conference on Intelligent Networking and Collaborative Systems – INCOS 2009 organized by both 22@Barcelona and KIMbcn (Knowledge Innovation Market Barcelona). The session has included several presentations from local companies that are related to intelligent networking and and collaborative systems. The idea was to present a research challenge to the audience, and then bridge the gap between academia and industry with specific cases. This is the schedule of the event:

Dijous passat vaig ser a Amsterdam per una reunió amb un dels bancs més grans del món i vaig poder comprovar que hi ha una enorme diferència entre Catalunya i alguns països europeus com Holanda en relació amb la paritat de sexes en llocs de responsabilitat. A la reunió hi assistien persones de responsabilitat del banc i, de la vintena de participants, la meitat eren dones. El mateix tipus de reunió a Barcelona o Madrid (on també hi tinc l’experiència) en un banc similar no comptaria ni amb un 10% de dones entre els assistents. I com més puges en la jerarquia, pitjor. Als Països Baixos això ho tenen realment superat, i estic convençut que no necessiten cap llei, per ells és natural. No entrarem en la típica discussió de si els homes i les dones som iguals, perquè és evident que no ho som, però per això mateix els grups de treball han de comptar amb ambdós sexes. Penso que els grups de treball que compten amb certa diversitat són més rics i probablement més interessants. La barreja de diferents cultures, llengües i procedències és, sens dubte, un altre valor que s’hauria de potenciar, de manera també natural, és clar.
